Introducing
a new series of DVDs that look in depth at particular model
railway layouts.
Some of the layouts will be well known from the exhibitions
circuit, many others will be privately owned, extensive layouts
which you will not have seen in action before.
The first in the series, "The Right Track to Stoke Summit",
features Tony Wright and the Wolverhampton MRC's 00 gauge
"Stoke Summit".
The Right Track to Stoke Summit:
Stoke Summit is
the popular depiction of the East Coast Main Line in Lincolnshire
during the steam / diesel transition of the late 1950s and
early 1960s.
It is the highest point on the line and the fastest stretch
of main line in the UK.
This is where Sir Nigel Gresley’s Mallard began its
world speed record in July 1938.
Tony Wright and the Wolverhampton MRC built the layout some
12 years ago and, since then, it has visited 65 shows across
Great Britain.
Presented by Tony Wright, the programme shows the layout’s
construction, the thinking behind it, how the trains were
made and its operation.
Complete with archive stills and present day prototype footage,
this high quality production invites you to “watch the
trains go by” and indulge in a little nostalgia.
It’s a glimpse in miniature at what one of our principal
main lines was like just a few years ago.
